Meralgia paresthetica

Meralgia paresthetica, also known as Bernhardt-Roth disease, characterized by pain and burning sensation in the femoral nerve innervation of the skin in the anterolateral thigh. The patient also complained of pruritus. No motor weakness and reflexes are preserved. Meralgia paresthetica can last a long time, there are cases that have lasted more than twenty years. It has been reported more frequently in the police and security agencies, as well as a waitress. That is why it appears that one reason is the tension given to the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve when the patient is standing too long (standing), for a few hours, on a regular basis. Other less common causes are traumatic inflammation, while at other times meralgia paresthetica is a symptom of spinal tumor affecting the corresponding root.
